Celebrating pride
June 09, 2023
Welcome to the Rainbow shrine! This shrine is based on the original 1978 rainbow flag designed by Gilbert Baker. It has eight stripes, two more than the popular modern iteration.
Each stripe's color is symbolic: Hot pink is for sex, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for magic/art, indigo for serenity, and violet for spirit.
Due to dye cost issues that prevented mass production of the flag and subsequent practical considerations, the hot pink and turquoise stripes were both dropped. But this is the internet, where these are non-issues, so long live sex and magic!
